Rimfire 3550 is an intelligent microprocessor-based SCSI-2 host busadapter that provides high-performance SCSI peripheral support onworkstation systems. Independent microprocessor control of all commandand data transfers between the SCSI peripheral and the VMEbus frees theworkstation processor from SCSI I/O tasks, and enables it to concentrateon computation-intensive tasks. Major features of Rimfire 3550 include:

20 MB per second synchronous SCSI transfer rate through 32-bit wide

SCSI-2 interface.

8 MB per second asynchronous SCSI transfer rates.
Disconnect/reconnect for high performance.
Scatter/gather command support for data streaming.
Support of seven SCSI peripherals and up to 56 LUNs.
Single-ended or differential SCSI-2 bus interface.
6U VME board.

Ciprico offers Rimfire 3550 device drivers and installation utilitiescompatible with VMEbus-based workstations and all releases through SunOS4.1.2.
